Plagued by big thoughts in a little town
It’s 1909 in Winlock, Washington, “The Egg Capital of the World” and Martine Small must find a way to direct this year’s EGG DAYS pageant. It’s easy to bamboozle the town boosters and she enjoys shocking her mother’s friends. She doesn’t mind terrorizing the tableau actors who are more interested in this year’s Easter bonnets than rehearsing, but having to fly against her grandmother’s unruly chickens may be the one unsurmountable obstacle in her epic quest.
Premiere Production, Theater Company of Lafayette, Lafayette, Colorado, April 2025
“Playwright Nora Douglass once again demonstrates her exceptional talent for storytelling with Martine Out of Time, a script that is both compelling and unflinchingly honest. Known for her sharp insights into human nature, Douglass has previously captivated audiences at the Theater Company of Lafayette with Shorn and Edmonds Stories. Her ability to weave intricate, emotionally resonant narratives cements her reputation as a playwright of remarkable depth and skill.”
